Searching for a special treat for your canine friend? Want to encourage students as they hone employment skills? Then the homemade dog biscuits by students in WHHHS' Wildcat Work Experience might be what you're looking for.
The Wildcat Work Experience provides students opportunities to explore different careers by immersing them into the Greater Harrison community. And, their most recent project centers on running their own business, called Wild West Biscuits.
The students prepare, bake, assemble and sell specialty dog biscuits. Spent grains from West Side Brewery are used in the process, with all proceeds supporting the program
The "Wild West Biscuits" are now available at The Spaw, The Gray Oak, and Village Pharmacy.
“Several local companies enlist students to work side by side with their employees in order to gain employability skills,” says Jamie Johnson, special education intervention specialist. “The skills the students are developing through these partnerships and through this new venture will help them obtain jobs in the community after graduation.”
In addition to the community experiences, the students also perform jobs within the high school.
